“Do What You Love, The Money Will Follow”, or "What's your 'Why'?"

This concept is so simple, so true and so overlooked in society. People don't usually stop and consider this. I didn't for the longest time. We are a country of drive-thrus, instant downloads, and instant gratification. If something doesn't happen immediately or not turn out as we originally hoped or expected, we assume it's not worth having. So many people just don't stop to listen to that little voice in their heads. Instead they become lured with instant "get rich quick" schemes or "have it all now" offers.

Do you want to know what nearly every successful Small Business owner does?

They follow their gut instinct instead of chasing the elusive dollar.

As was once said, “Desire is possibility seeking expression.” So, if something fascinates or fulfills you, you really should stop and take notice. Your "Why" may be calling you.

What's the best way to find your "Why"?

In order to find your "Why" you must take YOU out of the picture.

  • What are you concerned about?
  • What are your neighbors concerned about?
  • What is the world concerned about?
  • How would you change the world if you could?

Now don't panic and feel overwhelmed, your job is not to fully understand the world. Instead, simply look for ways to enhance it and make it better because you were here. These are the steps to know your "Why" and if your "Why" is bigger than you then you will be able to grow and prosper no matter what.

Now focus Daniel-san.

So where do you start? Simple, write down your thoughts. Face it, if your life is worth living, it’s worth writing down and a journal is a great way to keep everything under control and to keep you on track. You will be able to look back and take notice what excites or bothers you.

Stop procrastinating and get started.

  1. Think about your life/situation right now.
  2. Write down how you can initiate some actions to inspire new possibilities.
  3. Start looking around you again, write down what you care about.
  4. Make notes on what you would change.
  5. Examine your daily life, your community, your family.

When you do all of this you will grow to know your "why".
And, most importantly you will know what your business should be.
